This section describes the physical characteristics
of
the IBM
3270
Connection Versions A and
B.
The IBM
3270
Connection adapter, together with the appropriate
software, allows the Personal System/2 to emulate an IBM
3278/79 display station, an IBM
3287
printer,
or
a distributed
function terminal. The adapter accepts, decodes, and executes
commands issued from both the control unit and the Personal
System/2
1/0
bus.
The following features are part
of
the IBM
3270
Connection Ver-
sions A and
B:
A BNC coaxial connector. This allows the adapter to
support control units using either coaxial cable
or
the IBM
Cabling System.

An option card. The adapter can be installed in any slot
of
the Personal System/2.
