This section describes the physical characteristics
of
the IBM
3270
Connection Versions A and
B.
The IBM
3270
Connection adapter, together with the appropriate
software, allows the Personal System/2 to emulate an IBM
3278/79 display station, an IBM
3287
printer,
or
a distributed
function terminal. The adapter accepts, decodes, and executes
commands issued from both the control unit and the Personal
System/2
1/0
bus.
The following features are part
of
the IBM
3270
Connection Ver-
sions A and
B:
• A BNC coaxial connector. This allows the adapter to
support control units using either coaxial cable
or
the IBM
Cabling System.

• An option card. The adapter can be installed in any slot
