Why can't I contact another station with my Icom Transceiver?
    • T
      Todd WoodsSep 12, 2025
If you cannot contact another station with your Icom Transceiver, even though receiving and transmitting appear successful, the Split function may be activated, causing transmit and receive frequencies to differ. Push the SPLIT button to turn OFF this function. Alternatively, the RIT function or the ?TX function might be ON, also setting different receive or transmit frequencies; push RIT or TX to turn OFF these functions.

How to fix an Icom Transceiver that does not power on?
    • H
      hendricksangelaSep 9, 2025
If your Icom Transceiver isn't powering on when you push the POWER button, start by checking the DC power cable to ensure it's properly connected. Confirm that the external power supply is turned ON. Finally, inspect the DC power cable fuses or circuitry fuse for any blown fuses, identify and fix the cause, and replace the damaged fuse with a new one.

Why does my Icom Transceiver automatically transmit while receiving?
    • R
      richard49Sep 8, 2025
If your Icom Transceiver automatically switches to transmit while receiving, it's likely due to the VOX function being enabled. Push the VOX/BK-IN button to turn OFF the VOX function. If the issue persists, the VOX gain might be set too high, so adjust the VOX gain accordingly.

How to improve the sensitivity of my Icom Transceiver?
    • U
      ularsonSep 7, 2025
If your Icom Transceiver's sensitivity is too low, and you can only hear strong signals, there are a few things to check. First, make sure the attenuator is turned OFF in the FUNCTION screen. Also, ensure the squelch is open by rotating the AF RF/SQL (outer) to the 12 o’clock position. Check your antenna for defects or shorts/cuts in the coaxial cable connector, and repair/reconnect as needed. Verify that you're using an antenna suitable for the selected band, and if not, connect an appropriate antenna. Finally, you can try holding down the TUNER button to tune the antenna.

How to unlock the dial on my Icom IC-7300 Transceiver?
    • S
      Samantha WashingtonAug 23, 2025
If the displayed frequency on your Icom Transceiver doesn't change properly when rotating the MAIN DIAL, hold down SPEECH to turn the Dial Lock function OFF.

Why is there no power output or low output power on my Icom Transceiver?
    • C
      copelandterriSep 5, 2025
If you're experiencing no power output or low output power with your Icom Transceiver, several factors could be at play. First, ensure that the operating frequency is within a ham band. If it is, check that the modulation input signal level isn't set too low by adjusting the microphone gain in the Multi-function menu. You may want to check your microphone, by attempting to transmit in FM, CW, or RTTY mode to see if the problem lies with the microphone or the transceiver itself. High antenna SWR (more than 3:1) can also cause this issue, so adjust the antenna for an SWR of less than 3:1. If the antenna is not properly tuned, hold down the TUNER button for 1 second to tune it. Finally, verify that the TX power isn't set too low by adjusting the RF POWER in the Multi-function menu.

What to do if my Icom Transceiver displays “OVF”?
    • S
      Steven FranklinSep 4, 2025
If your Icom Transceiver displays “OVF,” it means an excessively strong signal is being received. Try rotating the AF RF/SQL (outer) dial counter-clockwise. If this doesn't help, turn ON the attenuator.

How many memory channels are needed to start memory scan on Icom IC-7300?
    • T
      Terry HeathSep 3, 2025
If memory scan does not start on your Icom Transceiver, set at least 2 memory channels.

Why is the received audio unclear on my Icom IC-7300 Transceiver in SSB mode?
    • B
      Bobby CollierSep 2, 2025
If the received audio in SSB mode is unclear or distorted on your Icom Transceiver: * Toggle between USB and LSB to select the correct sideband. * Hold down TWIN PBT CLR to clear the settings if the PBT function is activated.

    • M
      Matthew TranSep 1, 2025
If you cannot contact another station with your Icom Transceiver, even if receiving and transmitting appear successful: * Push SPLIT to turn OFF the function if the Split function is activated (transmit and receive frequencies are different). * Push RIT or TX to turn OFF the function if the RIT function or the ?TX function is ON and a different receive or transmit frequency is set.
