3-9 2 YEARS MAINTENANCE AND CHECKS
COOLING SYSTEM COOLANT
* At operating temperature, the engine coolant
is hot and under pressure.
* Steam can cause personal injury.
* Change the coolant only after the engine has
been stopped and radiator cap is cool
enough to touch with your bare hand.
* Remove the radiator cap slowly to relieve
Pressure.
Change the Coolant
Coolant should be drained and replaced every
250 service hours or six months. However, when
adding “long-Life-Coolant”, the drain period can
be extended to 2 years.
Drain the coolant earlier whenever the coolant is
dirty or foaming is observed.
1. Place the machine on the firm and level ground.
2. Loosen the radiator cap
c
slowly to relieve
pressure, and remove the cap.
3. Open the radiator drain valve
d
and allow the
coolant to drain into a container.
4. Remove the drain plug
e
allow the coolant to
drain into a container. Drain plug is located under
the injection pump on the front side of cylinder
body.
5. Close the drain valve
d
and drain plug
e
. Fill the
system with clean water and cleaning solution.
6. Start and operate the engine for 1/2 hour. Stop
the engine and drain the cleaning solution.
7. Flush the system with water, with the engine
stopped, until the draining water becomes clear.
8. Close the drain valve
d
and drain plug
e
. Fill
the system with clean water and operate the
engine for five minutes. Stop the engine and
drain the water.
9. Repeat step 7 several times, if necessary, until
the drained water becomes clear.
10. Add the coolant solution. See next page.
11. Operate the engine for five minutes with the
radiator cap
c
off.
