Move the swab only in one
direction (vertically or horizontally)
when cleaning the Ferrule.
Do not move the swab back
and forth when wiping the Ferrule.
Never move the swab round and round.

5. Saturate a swab with alcohol and wipe the Ferrule with the swab.
At this time, move the swab straight in a way in which you brush foreign matters off the Ferrule. Do not move the swab
round and round in a way in which the Ferrule is rubbed with foreign matters.
6. After wiping the Ferrule with the swab saturated with alcohol, wipe the Ferrule with a dry swab again.
7. After cleaning the Ferrule, check using a loupe that the Ferrule is free from foreign matters.
8. Wipe the electrical contact in the same way. Also wipe the alignment sleeve.

9. Insert the removed alignment sleeve into the optical contact until it clicks.
10.Turn the extractor counterclockwise (eight to ten turns) to mount the alignment sleeve.
Cleaning is now complete.
Male connectors have neither "top" nor "alignment sleeve" regardless of whether they are receptacles or plugs. For male
connectors, steps 1 to 4, 9, and 10 above are not required.
