ROLLOVER WARNING
WARNING: Utility vehicles have a signicantly
higher
rollover rate than other types of vehicles.
Your
Grenadier is designed so that it can be driven o-road. It
has
a higher ground clearance and a higher center of gravity than
ordinary passenger cars and many SUVs and crossovers. That
increases the risk of overturning. Modifying the vehicle (e.g.,
oversized tires, lift kits, additional accessories above the bumper
level) can further raise the center of gravity and increase the risk
of rollover. Certain kinds of loading (e.g., signicant weight on the
roof, substantial loads in the cargo area, loose heavy cargo) can
also increase the risk.
Avoid sharp turns and abrupt maneuvers. If you drift o the road,
especially onto an unpaved shoulder, avoid sudden steering or
braking. Slow down and return to the pavement gradually and
safely.
Avoid traversing slopes. Driving your Grenadier across a slope,
particularly an irregular slope, increases the risk of rollover. If you
must traverse a slope, remove as much cargo as possible and
drive slowly.
As with other vehicles of this type, failure to operate the vehicle
correctly may result in rollover.
In a rollover crash, an unbelted person is signicantly more likely
to die than a person wearing a seat belt.
DATA RECORDING
This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The
main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near
crash-like situations, such as an air bag deployment or hitting a
road obstacle, data that will assist in understanding how a
vehicle's systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data
related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period
of time, typically 30 seconds or less.
The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as:
How various systems in your vehicle were operating;
Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts
were buckled/fastened;
How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the
accelerator and/or brake pedal; and,
How fast the vehicle was traveling.
These data
can help provide a better understanding of the
circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
NOTE: EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a
non-trivial crash situation occurs; no data are recorded
by the EDR under normal driving conditions and no
personal data (e.g., name, gender, age, and crash
location) are recorded. However, other parties, such as
law enforcement, could combine the EDR data with the
