secure a car seat to an Upper Tether anchor, follow the
manufacturer's guidelines and:
Route the Upper Tether strap under the head restraint
between the head
restraint posts and over the back of
the seat. Do not route the Upper Tether over the head
restraint. Pull the head restraint upward or remove it as
required to route the Upper Tether over the seat back
itself.
Locate the Upper Tether anchor on the back of each rear
seat. The Upper
Tether anchor points are marked with
the symbol
.
Clip the Upper Tether strap to the anchor on the back of
the same seat.
Check that the Upper Tether strap is not
twisted.
Tighten the Upper Tether strap according to the car seat
manufacturer’s instructions.
Use only the Upper Tether on the back of the seat in
which the car
seat is positioned. Never put more than
one Upper Tether on an anchor.
Check to make sure that the seat is secure by attempting
to move it
side to side and forward and rearward. If it
can be moved more than an inch in any direction, tighten
it more.
If you have diculty securing the
seat, seek professional
help from your local motor vehicle division, police, or
sheri, or from the resources mentioned above in the
