The expander controller contains a circuit board within a metal canister, interfaced
through hot-swap docking connectors at the back-end. Two SAS wide ports on the
interface faceplate connect to a managing RAID system or other expansion
enclosures.
WARNING
Although the controller can be removed, it contains no user-serviceable components.
The only time you should touch the controller is to replace a failed controller. The
controller is built of sensitive components and unnecessary tampering can damage
the controller.
Ejection levers: Two ejection levers on the sides of the module help installing
and retrieving the controller.
SAS ports: Each expander controller has two SAS ports labeled SAS-IN and
SAS-OUT. The 4x SAS wide port is capable of multi-lane bandwidth at full-duplex
operations. Each JBOD enclosure comes with one or two 50cm inter-enclosure
expansion cables according to single- or dual-controller configuration.
Status LED: When lit, it indicates the expander module is ready for operation
