      If steam gushes from the steam release valve when the quick release button is in the Seal position, it could be due to a few reasons. First, ensure you have enough liquid in the inner pot. Add thin, water-based liquid according to the size of your inner pot: 6 Qt: 1 ½ cups (375 mL /~12 oz) or 8 Qt: 2 cups (500 mL /~16 oz). Also, flick the quick release button to make sure it is in the Seal position.

      Black smoke coming from the air fryer lid can be due to several reasons. It could be from using an oil with a low smoke point. In this case, choose a neutral oil with a high smoke point, such as Canola, Avocado, Soybean, Safflower, or Rice Bran. Another reason could be food residue on the bottom of the inner pot or around the element on the air fryer lid. You should remove all accessories from the inner pot and thoroughly clean the inner pot, air fryer lid, and all accessories.
