  There are several reasons why your pump might be making noise or vibrating. First, realign the pump and driver if they are not properly aligned. If the impeller is partly clogged, back-flush the pump to clean it. If the impeller or shaft is broken or bent, replace them. Ensure the foundation is rigid by tightening the hold-down bolts of the pump and motor or adjusting the stilts. Replace the bearings if they are worn. Check the internal wearing parts for proper clearances if rotating parts are binding. Finally, if the pump is cavitating, locate and correct the system problem.

Finally, check and adjust the packing if it is too tight or the mechanical seal is not adjusted properly, replacing any parts as necessary; adjust the mechanical seals according to the instructions supplied by the seal manufacturer or consult with ITT.
