Rem ove the sn ap rin gs from the ma in d riv e gear
and the outer race of the ball bearing.
h . Wi t h a beari ng puller, remove the main drive
gear ball bearing.
i. R emove the oil slinger.
j. R emove the snap ring from the outer bearing
race of the transm ission main s ha ft ball bearing.
k. W it h a bearing puller, re m ove the mainshaft
ball bear ing.

Not e: It may be necessary to drive the mai ns h aft
rearward by striki ng the en d of the main drive
gear with a lead h ammer to get sufficient cl earance
to i nstall the bea ri ng puller pl ates.
I. Slid e the dir ect - and - th ird clu tc h sleeve to the
r ear (third speed) position . S eparate the mainshaft
assembly from the main drive gear. Be careful
not to lose any of the main s haft pilot bearing
rollers.
m. L ift the mainsh aft as se mbly out 01 the top
of the transm issi on case .
n . R emove t he main drive gear fr om the t r ans-
mission case.

emove the mainshaft bea ri ng rollers from the
gear .
