Overview

The JC261 Series 4G Dashcam is a dual-channel digital video recorder (DVR) designed for various fleet management applications, including government, logistics, ride-hailing, and taxi fleets. This device leverages 4G network capabilities for communication, enabling simultaneous local recording and live streaming of video from two cameras. It integrates a range of safety features, such as Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), and exception alerts, to enhance vehicle safety and operational efficiency.

Function Description

The core function of the JC261 Series is video recording, which operates in a loop when the vehicle is in motion. This ensures continuous capture of events on the road and within the cabin. The device supports live video streaming, allowing fleet managers to view real-time images captured by the cameras via the LTE network through a web platform or mobile application. This feature is crucial for immediate monitoring and response to incidents.

Tracking is another fundamental function, where the dashcam uploads location data and motion information via the mobile network to a platform for analysis. This provides valuable insights into vehicle routes, driver behavior, and overall operational patterns.

The device is equipped with an event alert system that triggers and uploads alert messages and corresponding video files to the platform. These alerts can be activated by various events, including collisions, vibrations, dangerous driving behaviors, emergencies, DMS reminders, and speeding. This proactive alert system helps in identifying and addressing critical situations promptly.

For emergency situations, the JC261 Series includes an SOS call function. This allows the driver to notify the platform at the earliest possible time, initiate a call, and activate video recording during an emergency. This feature is vital for ensuring driver safety and immediate assistance when needed.

Remote control capabilities enable users to deliver lock commands to the device via the platform (web or app). This function allows for the remote cutoff of fuel and power to the vehicle in exceptional circumstances, providing an additional layer of security and control for fleet managers.

The dashcam supports various subcamera options to cater to different monitoring needs. The JC261P model features an integrated inward camera, providing 1280x720 resolution with full color in daytime and monochrome in dim light, primarily for monitoring the cabin. The JC261 model offers a remote cabin-view version with similar resolution and light adaptability for cabin monitoring. Additionally, the JC170 DMS Camera is specifically designed for monitoring the driver, capturing 1280x720 resolution monochrome video throughout the day.

Usage Features

The JC261 Series is designed for ease of use and integration into vehicle systems. Installation involves connecting the main unit's power cable to the vehicle's fuse box (B+, ACC, and GND) and routing the cable along the A-pillar to the upper center of the front windshield. The main unit is then securely attached to a mounting base on the windshield.

For remote cameras, flexible installation positions are available. The remote AHD camera can be installed on the windshield behind the rearview mirror or in the middle of the dashboard, facing inward to monitor the cabin. The JC170 DMS camera is specifically positioned at an angle of approximately 30° to the steering wheel, directly facing the driver's head, to effectively monitor driver behavior.

The device supports the attachment of a Nano-SIM card for 4G network connectivity, which must have data service activated. It also requires a TF card (speed class 10 or higher, 32GB or above) for local video storage. The TF card is recommended to be changed every half a year to maintain optimal recording performance.

Additional accessories can be integrated to expand the device's functionality. An external SOS key can be connected for emergency assistance, allowing drivers to quickly alert the platform and initiate recording. A relay can be connected to enable remote fuel and power cutoff, providing a critical security measure in case of vehicle theft or unauthorized use. A TTL interface is available for connecting to external devices, allowing for function expansion to meet specific scenario requirements not natively offered by the dashcam.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the JC261 Series involves several checks and considerations to ensure optimal performance. Prior to installation, a visual check of the device and its accessories is recommended to ensure everything is in good condition and complete.

During commissioning, checking the LED indicators is crucial. The Power LED (Red) indicates device power status (solid on for power on, blinking for sleep mode, or blinking differently for no TF card/damaged TF card, or off for no power). The Network LED (Blue) indicates connection status to the server (solid on for successful connection, blinking for available networks but failed server connection, or off for unavailable GSM network). The GNSS LED (Green) indicates location status (solid on for successful location, or blinking for locating/failed location). These LED indicators provide immediate feedback on the device's operational status.

Regular checks of the camera functionality are also important. After logging into the platform, users should be able to view live video from the cameras and switch between them. Manual adjustment of the camera angle can be performed as needed to ensure optimal field of view.

The device is designed for use with specific accessories provided by the manufacturer. It is recommended to use the original power cable and ensure correct wiring of positive and negative ends. The standard supply for the device is DC9-30V.

For optimal recording performance, the TF card should be changed every half a year. After attaching the TF card, the tamper cover should be mounted to protect the card slot.

It is strongly recommended to have installation and commissioning performed by a distributor, a designated business, or an expert to ensure correct setup and functionality. This helps in preventing potential issues and maximizing the device's benefits. The device is not suitable for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
