The JPT YDFLP-E-20/30-M7 Pulsed Fiber Laser is a Class 4 laser module designed for high-speed and precise marking applications. It emits invisible 1064nm wavelength laser radiation and is intended as a component for incorporation into a larger laser product, requiring additional features for laser safety and compliance with 21 CFR1040.10.
Function Description:
The YDFLP-E-20/30-M7 is a Ytterbium Doped Fiber Laser Pulse (YDFLP) that offers adjustable pulse width (M series) or fixed pulse width (LP series). It is controlled via a standard DB25 interface and powered by a 24V DC supply. The device's pulse response and performance are noted to be superior to similar products, making it ideal for compact marking systems.
The laser features a GUI (Graphical User Interface) software, TypeE, which provides comprehensive control and monitoring capabilities. This includes setting default parameters, selecting control modes (GUI Full Control Mode or Free Control Mode), alarm monitoring, DB25 interface monitoring, and internal parameter monitoring. The software also records error events that can lead to system self-locking.

The device also specifies cut-off frequencies for different pulse widths. For laser safety and long lifetime, when the pulse width is set to ≥80ns, the frequency range is limited to 400kHz. The laser will operate at its expected output power above the cut-off frequency, but power will drop below it to maintain peak power.
Usage Features:
- Power Supply: Requires a 24V DC power supply with correct polarity. Inappropriate connection can damage the product. The power supply cable length is approximately 1250mm.
- Control Interface: Utilizes a DB25 connector for control signals, including power control (IP0-IP7), RS232 communication (RxD, TxD, GND), and various control pins for MO (Master Oscillator), PA (Pre-Amplifier), PRR (Pulse Repetition Rate), and pulse width modulation.
- Pulse Width Control: The pulse width can be adjusted via serial input (Pin2) and serial clock (Pin3) signals using specific instruction codes (e.g., 0xA5 for activation, 0x01 for setting pulse width). The Pin22 signal (red beam turn on/off) needs to be activated 10us in advance of Pin2/Pin3 signals and delayed 10us after adjustment.
- GUI Control: The TypeE software allows users to:
- GUI Full Control Mode: Set power, frequency, and pulse width, and switch emission on/off. These settings are not preserved after power-off.
- Free Control Mode: Choose individual parameter control (e.g., lock frequency or output power) without external signal control. Settings are preserved after power-off.
- MO Control: Control the switching of the MO signal.
- Default Parameter Setting: Modify and save default laser parameters.
- Safety Signals: Includes warning signals (Pin16, 21), laser starting signals (PA, Pin19), frequency modulation (TTL, Pin20), and emergency stop signals (Pin22, 23). The red beam Pin22 signal has higher priority, shutting down MO and PA signals if high.
- External Control: Supports external frequency input, where the laser output pulse synchronizes with the external frequency signal. If external control fails, the laser defaults to internal frequency mode.
Maintenance Features:
- Fiber Cable Management: Ensure the bending diameter of the fiber cable is larger than 15cm to prevent power decrease or damage.
- Thermal Management: Maintain minimum 10cm air gaps around the fiber laser for proper air circulation. Incorrect ventilation can lead to temperature rises. The recommended operating temperature range is 10-30°C.
- Cleanliness: Keep the fiber laser source, especially the output window, clean. Cover the output window when exposed to prevent dust accumulation, which can cause heat, lens damage, and output power decrease.
- Safety Goggles: Always wear appropriate laser safety goggles (OD4+ or better) when operating the laser, as both direct and reflected beams can cause permanent damage to eyes and skin, and may cause fire. Even at 0% power emitting, the average output laser power is still around 100mW.
- System Self-Locking: The fiber laser control system has a self-locking mechanism that stops operation in abnormal statuses (e.g., high temperature, low power supply) to protect the system. A restart is required after such an event.
- Monitoring: The TypeE software provides real-time monitoring of operation parameters and alarm conditions, including:
- Status Monitoring: Displays laser power, board temperature, pump temperature, pulse width, and PRR.
- Voltage Error: Alarms if the supply voltage is too low or too high.
- DB25-D7-D0: Monitors the current power signal of the laser (8-bit binary).
- DB25-PA/MO: Monitors the status of received PA and MO signals.
- Laser Power: Indicates the power percentage of the pump source current conversion.
- Circuit Temperature: Monitors the current laser circuit module temperature.
- Optical Path Temperature: Monitors the temperature of the optical path module.
- Pulse Width: Monitors the working pulse width parameter.
- Frequency: Monitors the laser operating frequency parameter.
- Circuit Temperature Alarm: Alarms if the circuit temperature exceeds the set range.
- Low Primary Current: Alarms for abnormal low primary current.
- Seed TEC: Alarms if the seed source temperature is abnormal.
- No Pulse E: Alarms if no seed source backlight signal is detected or if the backlight signal frequency is less than 1kHz.
- Warranty: Warranty and service terms are subject to the official contract.
