roller
surface
contacting
the
capstan
must
be
vertical.

Flywheel

little
thrust
clearance
exists
between
flywheel
shaft
bearing
and
spacial
washer.

The
capstan
is
clean,
correctly
centered,
and
provides
quiet
rotation.
3.
Play
torque
It
must
be
within
40
~
70
g/cm
If
the
torque
is
out
of
the
specified
range,
the
following
action
is
necessory.
1
Wipe
the
takeup
disc
periphery
and
all
the
parts
with
which
the
disc
comes
in
contact,
by
use
of
a
cloth
moistened
in
alcohol.
2.
Nevertheless
normal
condition
is
replace
the
takeup
disc
or
takeup
lever
spring.
not
obtained,
1.
Don’t
dirty
with
oi!
or
extend
excessively
the
belts
to
prevent
the
increase
of
wow
and
flatter.
2.
Adjust
the
height
of
the
Motor
Pulley,
when
replacing
the
Fiywheel-drivebelt,
so
that
the
belt
will
be
parallel
to
the
chassis
surface.
Head
Replacement
and
Adjustment
If
either
of
the
Recording/PB
head
and
the
Erase
head
shows
low
performance
caused
by
wear,
broken
wire
or
excessive
magnetization,
it
should
be
replaced.
They
can
be
removed
by
loosening
screws
with
following
procedure.
Replacing
the
Head
Step
1.
Push
the
EJECT
button
to
open
cassette
cover.
2.
Unhook
the
brake
arm
of
air
damper
at
left
of
the
cassette
cover.
3.
Pushing
the
both
lower
sides
of
cassette
cover,
pull
out
the
cover
upwards.

After
replacement,
adjust
the
azimuth
of
head.

Adjustment
Preparation
Regarding
Azimuth
Adjustment
only,
unscrew
2
screws
®,
in
Fig.
12
to
remove
cover
plate,
and
push
PLAY/REC
button,
so
that
the
heads
part
will
be
shifted
upwards
and
the
adjustment
can
be
made
with
a
screwdriver
from
upper
side
of
the
operation
buttons.
Step
1.
Connect
the
INPUT
jack
of
V.T.V.M.
to
the
LINE
OUT
of
REC/PB
socket.
2.
Play
back
the
standard
tape
(Full
Track
or
JVC
Test
Tape
VTT658
10kHz)
for
azimuth
(angle
adjustment}.
