2.5.5 Temperature monitoring
KTY84 sensors are installed as standard in the NDE winding head to protect the motor
against thermal overload when the temperature change is slow (temperature change in
minutes or hours).
ATTENTION
max. 30 VDC at temperature sensor!
The maximum operating voltage of the temperature sensors must not
exceed 30 VDC.
Due to the non-ideal thermal coupling, the temperature sensor follows rapid winding
temperature changes only with delay, thus being unable to protect the winding if the
thermal overload of the motor is transient and high. Therefore, additional protection is
required (e.g. monitoring I
2
x t by the inverter electronic system) to protect the motor
from fast-rising thermal overload.
ATTENTION
Caution in case of overload!
The evaluation of the temperature sensor belongs to the monitoring of
the motor winding. The temperature sensor follows rapit temperature
changes only with delay.
