5.3 Maize harvesting C3000
Harvesting laid maize

It is impossible to give specific rules
as the conditions always vary so
enormously but here is some general
advice.
- Drive at an angle to the laying
direction as far as possible. .
- For laid maize as per the sketch
opposite, it is recommended that
only rows should be harvested
together.
The outer left fourth row is the
hardest to harvest in view of the
gathering drum direction and the laid
position of the maize.
- Maintain speed in the crop.
- Vary gathering drum speed.
- Keep machine horizontal as far as
possible.
Crop lifters
In very laid crops, crop lifters may be
necessary. In this case, 1 crop lifter
will be fitted at the front of each
gathering drum before the small
divider prongs, part N' 55965.
