  First, ensure the bread maker is switched on. Check that the pan is correctly located and locked in place. If a delay timer is selected, the bread maker will not start until the countdown reaches the program start time. After programming the control panel, press the start button to turn the bread maker on. Always ensure the kneader is on the shaft in the bottom of the pan before adding ingredients.

  The bread maker may have been placed in a draught or was knocked or jolted during rising. Reposition the bread maker. Do not exceed the recommended ingredients for a large loaf (max. 1Kg). Ensure you use the amount of salt recommended in the recipe, as salt helps prevent the dough from over-proving. Also, measure the yeast accurately. In warm, humid weather, reduce the liquid by 15ml/3tsp and reduce the yeast by 1/4tsp.

  Wholemeal breads will naturally be lower than white breads. Increase liquid by 15ml/3tsp. Assemble ingredients as listed in the recipe. Use strong bread flour instead of plain white flour. For best results, use only fast action “easy blend” yeast. Measure the recommended amount of yeast and check the expiry date on the package. Note that the rapid bread cycle produces shorter loaves. Make sure yeast and sugar remain separate when added to the bread pan.
