Features of your vehicle Reverse Parking Distance Warning (PDW)

illustration depending on objects
or sensors status. If the indicator
blinks, we recommend that you
have your vehicle checked by an
authorized KIA dealer.
䳜 If the audible warning does not
sound or if the buzzer sounds
intermittently when the gear is R
(Reverse) position, this may indi

cate a malfunction with Reverse
Parking Distance Warning system.
If this occurs, we recommend that
you have your vehicle checked by
an authorized KIA dealer as soon
as possible.
Non-operational conditions of
Reverse Parking Distance Warning
Reverse Parking Distance Warning
system may not operate normally
when:
䳜 Moisture is frozen to the sensor.
䳜 Sensor is covered with foreign
matter, such as snow or water, or
the sensor cover is blocked.
There is a possibility of Reverse
Parking Distance Warning system
malfunction when:
䳜 Driving on uneven road surfaces
such as unpaved roads, gravel,
bumps, or gradient.
䳜 Objects generating excessive
noise such as vehicle horns, loud
motorcycle engines, or truck air
brakes can interfere with the
sensor.
䳜 Heavy rain or water spray is pres
-
ent.
䳜 Wireless transmitters or mobile
phones are present near the sen
-
sor.
䳜 The sensor is covered with snow.
䳜 Any non-factory equipment or
accessories have been installed,
or if the vehicle bumper height or
sensor installation has been mod
-
ified.
Detecting range may decrease
when:
䳜 Outside air temperature is
extremely hot or cold.
The following objects may not be
recognized by the sensor:
䳜 Sharp or slim objects such as
ropes, chains or small poles.
䳜 Undetectable objects smaller than
100 cm (40 in) and narrower than
14 cm (6 in) in diameter.
䳜 Objects, which tend to absorb
sensor frequency such as clothes,
spongy material or snow.
