TP-5393 9/93IV Safety Precautions and Instructions
HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE/
ELECTRICAL SHOCK
WARNING
Hazardous voltage.
Do not operate generator set without all guards
and electrical enclosures in place.
Moving rotor.
Can cause severe injury or death.
Do not connect to any building electrical system
without connecting through an approved device
and after building main switch is open.
WARNING
Hazardous voltage.
Backfeed to utility system can cause severe
injury, death, or property damage.
Hazardous voltage can cause severe injury or
death. The heat sink of the voltage regulator contains
high voltage. Do not touch voltage regulator heat sink
when testing or electrical shock will occur.
Hazardous voltage can cause severe injury or
death. Perform electrical service only as prescribed in
equipment manual. Be sure that generator is properly
grounded. Never touch electrical leads or appliances
with wet hands, when standing in water, or on wet
ground as the chance of electrocution is especially
prevalent under such conditions. Wiring should be
inspected at the interval recommended in the service
schedule—replace leads that are frayed or in poor
condition. The function of a generator set is to produce
electricity and wherever electricity is present, there is
the hazard of electrocution.
Hazardous “backfeed” voltage can cause severe
injury or death. The generator must not be used to
“backfeed” by connecting it to building/campground
circuits. Install a transfer switch in standby power
installationsto prevent connection ofstandby andother
sources of power. Electrical backfeed into a utility
electrical system can cause serious injury or death to
utility personnel working on transmission lines.
Hazardous voltage can cause severe injury or
death. Short circuits can cause bodily injury and/or
equipment damage. Do not contact electrical
connections with tools or jewelry while adjustments are
made. Remove wristwatch, rings, and jewelry that can
cause short circuits.
