Spark Arrestor
Engines are equipped with a spark arrestor for
operational and environmental safety.
Every 100 hours of operation, remove and clean or
replace the spark arrestor following the instructions
below.
WARNING
Hot Parts can cause severe burns.
Do not touch engine while operating or
justaerstopping.
1. Remove the securing hardware and the spark
arrestor.SeeFigure24.
2. Cleanthecarbondepositsoutofthescreenusinga
wire brush.
3. Checkthesparkarrestor,replaceifdamaged.
4. Reinstallthesparkarrestor,securingwiththe
hardware previously removed.
Clean Air Intake/Cooling Areas
To ensure proper cooling, make sure the debris screen,
coolingns,andotherexternalsurfacesoftheengine
are kept clean at all times. Checkdaily.
Every 100 hoursofoperation(moreoenunder
extremelydusty,dirtyconditions),removetheblower
housingandothercoolingshrouds.Cleanthecooling
nsandexternalsurfacesasnecessary.Makesurethe
cooling shrouds are reinstalled.
NOTE: Operating the engine with a blocked debris
screen,dirtyorpluggedcoolingns,and/or
cooling shrouds removed, will cause engine
damage due to overheating.
