Modes of Operation
Kompac Series conditioners are available in
either a “Cooling Only” or
“Cooling/Heating” model.
The “Cooling” mode directs refrigerant from
the compressor to the water-to-refrigerant
condenser when the dry bulb temperature is
above the desired thermostat setting.
The Heat Pump Model operates in the
cooling or heating modes, depending on
thermostat command. A solenoid activated,
reverse-cycle valve controls the flow of
refrigerant gas through the unit. In the
cooling mode, the solenoid is de-energized
and the refrigerant is directed from the
compressor to the water-to-refrigerant
condenser. If heating is required, the
solenoid coil is energized, reversing the
cycle and directing refrigerant from
compressor to the air-to-refrigerant
condenser, i.e., air-to-refrigerant evaporator
in the cooling mode.
