The spark plug could be oily or wet, so clean and dry it, or replace it if necessary. Also, check the spark plug electrode gap and adjust it to 0.8 mm (0.031 in) if it's too wide. A frayed short circuit cable in the wiring harness or a defective kill switch can also prevent starting, so check the wiring harness visually and inspect the electrical system. Finally, a defect in the fuel injection system might be the issue; in this case you should read out the fault memory using the KTM diagnostics tool.

A leaky or deformed exhaust system, or too little glass fiber yarn filling in the main silencer, can also cause power loss, so check the exhaust system for damage and replace the glass fiber yarn filling of the main silencer if needed. Finally, the valve clearance might be too little, so adjust the valve clearance.

Foam formation in the cooling system can also lead to overheating, in that case drain and refill the coolant. A bent radiator hose can also restrict coolant flow, so replace it.
