ENGINE
Change the gear wheel pair.
Check
s lidi ng gear 0 for smooth operation in the pro file of main s haft 8 .
If th e s lidin g gear does not mo ve freel y:
Change th e s lidin g gear or the main sha ft .
Check
s lidi ng gears 0 for smoo th operation in th e profile of co unter s haft 8 .
If the sliding gear does not mo ve freel y:
Change the sliding gear or the countershaft.
Check s
top di sks 0 for damage and wear.
" If th ere is damage or wear:
Change
the stop disks.
Use new
lock rings C) w ith every repair.
18.4.40 Assembling the main shaft

Use new lock rings with every repair.
Preparatory work
Lubricate a ll parts care full y before assembling.
Check the transmi ss ion. (e p. 207)
Main work
Secure the main s haft with the toothed end fa c ing downward in the vise.
Guide lin e
Use soft jaws.

Mount the divided needle bearing 0 and attach the fifth-gear idler gear 8 w ith the shift dogs facing up.
Mount
sto p disk 8 and lock ring 8 .
Pu sh on the third /four th -gear sl iding gear 0 with the small gear wheel fa c ing downward and mount lock rin g 0 .
Pu sh on s top disk 0 and sp lit needle bearing C) .
Attach six th gear idler gear €) with the s hift dog facing downward.
Attach second-gear fixed gear
G) with the co ll ar facing downward and s top di sk Cl .
Finall y, check all gear wheels for smooth operation.
