4-5 Lastec//021819 Operating Procedures
Be sure there are no people near the Articulator, especially in the path of discharge.
Turn off the tractor, disengage the PTO, shift the transmission into neutral, and set
the parking brake.
Release the deck lock cables to allow the Articulator to float properly. Secure the
loose chains.
Start the tractor. Keep the tractor on a low RPM setting. DO NOT ENGAGE THE
PTO WITH THE TRACTOR AT HIGH IDLE.
Engage the PTO.
If there is any belt squeal, excessive vibration, or any indication of obstructions or
debris in the blades, disengage the PTO at once.
If the Articulator appears to be operating correctly, slowly increase the tractor
engine speed until the PTO is operating at the tractor manufacturer's recommended
operating RPM. IMPORTANT! For best results the Articulator should run as close to
540 RPM as possible without exceeding it.
Release the parking brake and carefully begin cutting.
