Overview

The Level Sense Freezer Sentry is a Wi-Fi-based monitoring device designed to keep track of critical conditions within your refrigerator or freezer, providing timely alerts to prevent potential issues. It monitors three primary elements: temperature, humidity, and power loss/Wi-Fi status. Additionally, it supports optional sensor inputs for a leak sensor and a float switch, expanding its monitoring capabilities.

Function Description

The core function of the Freezer Sentry is to continuously monitor the internal environment of your refrigerator or freezer. It uses a temperature sensor to detect deviations from a set range and a humidity sensor to track moisture levels. The device also keeps tabs on its own power supply and Wi-Fi connection, alerting you if either is interrupted. Each of these monitored parameters can be individually configured as an alarm trigger. When an alarm condition is met, the Freezer Sentry can generate three types of alarm outputs: SMS (text message), email, and an audible siren. This multi-channel alert system ensures that you are notified promptly, regardless of your location or immediate access to the device. The device is designed to be user-friendly, with a straightforward setup process and clear visual indicators for its operational status.

Usage Features

To begin using the Freezer Sentry, you first need to create a Level Sense account, which can be done via a smartphone/tablet app or a web browser. Once your account is set up, the device needs to be connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. This is typically done through a hotspot method, where the Freezer Sentry broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network, allowing you to connect to it with a Wi-Fi enabled device (like a phone or laptop). A configuration page will then appear, prompting you to select your home Wi-Fi network and enter its password. If you enter your Level Sense account email during this process, the device will automatically link to your account, eliminating the need for a claim code. Otherwise, a unique claim code will be displayed on the device (indicated by all four LEDs flashing in unison), which you will then enter into the Level Sense portal or mobile application to claim the device.

Once connected and claimed, you can configure notification settings to customize how and when you receive alerts. This includes setting lower and upper temperature set points, as well as a delay for temperature alarms. The delay feature is particularly useful to prevent false alarms when the refrigerator/freezer door is temporarily opened. Similarly, you can set lower and upper humidity set points. For optional leak and float sensors, you can enable or disable their alarm functions. For each input, you can choose to receive alerts via email, text message, and/or activate the audible siren. The siren can be temporarily silenced by pressing a button on the device itself.

The Freezer Sentry also allows you to view historical data. Through the Level Sense website or mobile application, you can access charts that display temperature and humidity readings over time, providing insights into the performance of your appliance and helping you identify any trends or recurring issues.

Maintenance Features

The Freezer Sentry incorporates several features to facilitate its maintenance and ensure continuous operation. The device's status LEDs provide a quick visual indication of its current state, such as no alarms, waiting for wireless connection, Wi-Fi connection in progress, alarms present, firmware upgrade/server maintenance, or loss of internet. This allows for immediate troubleshooting if an issue arises. For instance, if all four LEDs are flashing in unison, it indicates a claim code, guiding you to the next step in the setup process. If the Cloud LED turns red, it signals a loss of local internet connection, which could be due to an incorrect Wi-Fi password or the device being out of range.

In cases where the Wi-Fi password needs to be reset, the device offers a specific procedure. By pressing and holding the SILENCE button until all four LEDs turn red, then releasing and clicking the SILENCE button twice, and finally pressing the RESET button after the remaining two red LEDs go out, the Wi-Fi credentials are cleared. This allows you to reconfigure the device to a new or corrected Wi-Fi network.

The temperature sensor also includes an offset feature for calibration. If the Freezer Sentry's temperature reading differs from the actual temperature inside your appliance, you can adjust it by entering an offset value in the notification settings. This ensures that the device provides accurate temperature monitoring.

The Level Sense Freezer Sentry is designed for easy installation. It can be mounted magnetically to the side of a refrigerator/freezer, wall-mounted using screws and a provided template, or attached using cable ties and sticky pad anchors. The temperature sensor itself can be installed in three ways: hooked onto a wire rack, attached to the refrigerator/freezer wall with a snap-lock adhesive support, or screwed into place. These flexible mounting options ensure that the device can be securely positioned in various environments.

The device comes with a 2-year limited warranty, covering defects in materials and craftsmanship. Level Sense also provides a minimum cloud monitoring service for one year from the date of manufacture, with options for continued service thereafter. This commitment to service and support helps ensure the longevity and reliability of your Freezer Sentry.
