Overview

The Levoit Vital 100 Series is a True HEPA Air Purifier designed for household use, aiming to improve indoor air quality by filtering airborne particles and odors.

Function Description:

The air purifier operates using a 3-stage filtration system to clean the air. It draws in air through side inlets, passes it through the filter, and releases purified air through the top outlet. Users can control the fan speed, set a timer for operation, and turn the display off. A "Check Filter Indicator" reminds users when the filter needs inspection or replacement. The device is not intended for commercial use and should not be used with solid-state speed controls like dimmer switches.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: Vital 100 Series
  • Voltage: AC 120V, 60Hz
  • Rated Power: 55W
  • Ideal Room Size: 300 ft² / 28 m² (Note: Effective for larger rooms, but purification will take longer.)
  • CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate): 130 CFM / 221 m³/h. This measures the volume of clean air produced per minute, based on the removal of dust, pollen, and smoke. A higher CADR indicates more particles removed and a larger cleanable area.
  • Operating Conditions:
    • Temperature: 14°–104°F / -10°–40°C
    • Humidity: < 85% RH
  • Noise Level: 23-50dB
  • Standby Power: < 0.5W
  • Dimensions: 12.8 x 6.4 x 16.1 in / 32.4 x 16.2 x 41 cm
  • Weight: 9.3 lb / 4.2 kg
  • Air Change Per Hour (ACH): 3.3 times per hour in a single, closed room up to 300 ft² / 28 m², assuming 8 ft / 2.4 m ceilings.

Usage Features:

  • On/Off Control: A dedicated button to turn the air purifier on or off.
  • Fan Speed Settings: Cycles through three fan speeds: I (low), II (medium), and III (high). Fan speed III offers the quickest air cleaning but is the loudest. Indicators light up to show the active speed.
  • Display Off Function: A button to turn off the display lights. Tapping any other button (except On/Off) will reactivate the display.
  • Timer Function: Allows users to set the air purifier to run for 2, 4, or 8 hours, after which it will automatically turn off. Timer indicators light up blue when active. The fan speed can be changed while the timer is on, but changing the time will restart the timer.
  • Memory Function: The air purifier remembers its previous fan speed setting when plugged in, but it does not remember timer settings.
  • Placement: Should be placed on a hard, flat surface with at least 15 inches / 38 cm of clearance around the air inlets for optimal airflow.
  • Optimal Operation: For best results, or to address specific air quality issues like smoke, it's recommended to run the air purifier at high speed (level III) for 15–20 minutes before switching to a lower speed. Keeping windows and doors closed while the air purifier is on enhances its effectiveness.
  • Safety Features: Equipped with a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) to reduce electric shock risk, designed to fit polarized outlets one way. Users are advised not to defeat this safety feature.

Maintenance Features:

  • 3-Stage Filtration System:
    1. Washable Pre-Filter: Captures large particles such as dust, lint, fibers, hair, and pet fur, extending the life of subsequent filters. It should be vacuumed every 2-4 weeks and washed every 1-2 months.
    2. High-Efficiency Activated Carbon Filter: Physically adsorbs smoke, odors, and fumes, and filters compounds like formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This filter is not washable.
    3. H13 True HEPA Filter: Traps at least 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 micrometers in diameter, including fine dust, smoke particles, pollen, and pet dander. This filter is not washable.
  • Filter Replacement Indicator: The "Check Filter Indicator" light turns on every 6-8 months (depending on usage) to remind users to check the filter.
  • Filter Replacement Schedule: The entire filter (including the Pre-Filter, Activated Carbon, and True HEPA components) should be replaced every 6–8 months. Replacement frequency may vary based on usage and environmental pollution levels.
  • Resetting Filter Indicator: After replacing the filter, the indicator needs to be manually reset by pressing and holding the "Check Filter Indicator" button for 3 seconds. If the filter was changed before the indicator lit up, the same reset procedure applies.
  • Cleaning the Air Purifier: Unplug before cleaning. The exterior should be wiped with a soft, dry cloth (or a damp cloth followed by immediate drying). The inside can be vacuumed. Abrasive chemicals or flammable cleaning agents should not be used.
  • Filter Cleaning (Pre-Filter only): The Pre-Filter can be removed, cleaned with a soft brush or vacuum hose, and gently washed under running water. It must be completely dry before being reattached to the True HEPA and Activated Carbon Filters using velcro tape.
  • Storage: If stored for an extended period, the filter should be wrapped in plastic packaging and kept in a dry place to prevent moisture damage.
  • Essential Oils: Essential oils should not be added to the air purifier or filter, as they can damage the filter and cause unpleasant smells. Oil diffusers should not be used near the air purifier.
  • Official Filters: To maintain performance, only official Levoit filters should be used for replacement.
