OPERATION
BEFOREFIELDOPERATION:
INSPECTTHEVEHICLE
The vehicle’s safety equipment is installed and in
goodworkingcondition.
Vehicleisin good workingconditionand must
respectthe m aintenancespecif icationsas per
theowner’sm anualofthevehicle.
ENGINEPREPARATION
See enginemanufacturer’s recommendationsfor the
typeandamountofoilandfuelused.
Make sure the tow vehicle’s parking brake is set,
mower is level, and blades are disengaged. Engine
must be level to accurately check and fill oil. Do not
overfill.
 Checksparkplugwire(s),oilandfuel.
 Check all electrical connections for debris
buildup.
Operate the engine according to the instructions in
theenginemanual.
ADJUSTCUTTER
Beforeoperating,refertosection« Adjustment »and
proceed with the required adjustments according to
thedesireduse.
ADJUSTTIREPRESSURE
Verifyandadjusttirepressureasindicateddirectlyon
tire of the accessory. Air pressure must be even on
bothsides.
INSPECTTHEACCESSORY
Make the following inspections with the accessory
attachedtothevehicle.Makesuretheelectricclutch
is disengaged the engine is shut off, the spark plug
wire is disconnect and all moving components are
completelystopped:
Parkvehicleandthe accessoryonalevelsurface is
restingonsolidsupports..
 Makesurethereisnothingundertheaccessory
thatshouldnotbethere.
 (tools,block,feet,hands,etc.)
 Check for and remove foreign objects wrapped
aroundbladespindles.
 Check for nicked, bent, broken, and worn cutting
blades.
 Replace or sharpen blades as required.
Referto“CutterBladeMaintenance”.
 Removesolidsupportsfromunderthedeckbefore
operating.
INSPECTWORKAREA
Makesuretheworkareacorrespondstotheintended
useofthisequipmentanditissafetoworkwithin.
Do not cut in wet conditions. Allow wet grass to
dry. Wet grass will clump and collect under the
mowingdeckcreatingpoordischargeandpremature
wear.Itwillalsorequireadditionalhorsepower.
WARNING
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Clear area to be cut of debris and other unforeseen
removableobjectsbeforecutting.Markanypotential
hazards that cannot be removed such as tree
stumps, post, rocks, holes, and drop-offs with a
visibleflag.
WARNING
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Do not operate accessory with loose hardware.
Loose hardware can result in a breakdown causing
seriousinjuryordeath.
WARNING
Loosebladescaneasilypiercea1/4’’steelplate.
Loosebladescanalsobethrownupto300feet.
TOPREVENTSERIOUSINJURIES,DEATHAND
MATERIALDAMAGE:
Periodically (and after a full day) disengage
ELECTRIC CLUTCH, shut down engine, remove
key,and:
 Checkforforeignobjectswrappedaroundtherotor
shaft.
 Lift and block the accessory before removing
objects.
 Frequently inspect accessoryfor anysign of wear
orlooseboltsandnuts(especiallythetheboltsfor
thestumpjumperandtheblade).
 TightenasindicatedintheTorquespecification
table.
 Makesureallguardsareinplaceatalltimes.
CAUTION
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Do not exceed rated cutting capacity indicated (see
« INTENDEDUSE »section).
WARNING
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Do not use accessory to lift or carry objects; to pull
fenceposts,stumpsorotherobjects;ortotowother
equipment. Doing so can damage the accessory,
causingseriousinjuryordeath.
