OPERATION
BEFOREFIELDOPERATION:
INSPECTTHEVEHICLE
The vehicle’s safety equipment is installed and in
goodworkingcondition.
Vehicleisin good workingconditionand must
respectthe m aintenancespecif icationsas per
theowner’sm anualofthevehicle.
ENGINEPREPARATION
See enginemanufacturer’s recommendationsfor the
typeandamountofoilandfuelused.
Make sure the tow vehicle’s parking brake is set,
mower is level, and blades are disengaged. Engine
must be level to accurately check and fill oil. Do not
overfill.
Checksparkplugwire(s),oilandfuel.
Check all electrical connections for debris
buildup.
Operate the engine according to the instructions in
theenginemanual.
ADJUSTCUTTER
Beforeoperating,refertosection« Adjustment »and
proceed with the required adjustments according to
thedesireduse.
ADJUSTTIREPRESSURE
Verifyandadjusttirepressureasindicateddirectlyon
tire of the accessory. Air pressure must be even on
bothsides.
INSPECTTHEACCESSORY
Make the following inspections with the accessory
attachedtothevehicle.Makesuretheelectricclutch
is disengaged the engine is shut off, the spark plug
wire is disconnect and all moving components are
completelystopped:
Parkvehicleandthe accessoryonalevelsurface is
restingonsolidsupports..
Makesurethereisnothingundertheaccessory
thatshouldnotbethere.
(tools,block,feet,hands,etc.)
Check for and remove foreign objects wrapped
aroundbladespindles.
Check for nicked, bent, broken, and worn cutting
blades.
Replace or sharpen blades as required.
Referto“CutterBladeMaintenance”.
Removesolidsupportsfromunderthedeckbefore
operating.
INSPECTWORKAREA
Makesuretheworkareacorrespondstotheintended
useofthisequipmentanditissafetoworkwithin.
Do not cut in wet conditions. Allow wet grass to
dry. Wet grass will clump and collect under the
mowingdeckcreatingpoordischargeandpremature
wear.Itwillalsorequireadditionalhorsepower.
WARNING
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Clear area to be cut of debris and other unforeseen
removableobjectsbeforecutting.Markanypotential
hazards that cannot be removed such as tree
stumps, post, rocks, holes, and drop-offs with a
visibleflag.
WARNING
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Do not operate accessory with loose hardware.
Loose hardware can result in a breakdown causing
seriousinjuryordeath.
WARNING
Loosebladescaneasilypiercea1/4’’steelplate.
Loosebladescanalsobethrownupto300feet.
TOPREVENTSERIOUSINJURIES,DEATHAND
MATERIALDAMAGE:
Periodically (and after a full day) disengage
ELECTRIC CLUTCH, shut down engine, remove
key,and:
Checkforforeignobjectswrappedaroundtherotor
shaft.
Lift and block the accessory before removing
objects.
Frequently inspect accessoryfor anysign of wear
orlooseboltsandnuts(especiallythetheboltsfor
thestumpjumperandtheblade).
TightenasindicatedintheTorquespecification
table.
Makesureallguardsareinplaceatalltimes.
CAUTION
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Do not exceed rated cutting capacity indicated (see
« INTENDEDUSE »section).
WARNING
TOPREVENTINJURIES:
Do not use accessory to lift or carry objects; to pull
fenceposts,stumpsorotherobjects;ortotowother
equipment. Doing so can damage the accessory,
causingseriousinjuryordeath.
