9. Silent Skip
Silent Skip automatically pauses recording when there is a period
of silence and resumes recording when sound resumes.
This feature is often referred to as voice activated recording.
Silent Skip looks for sound below a preset level for three
seconds time.
When that occurs, the PMD560 switches to record pause.
When a signal above the preset level is input, recording
resumes.
The Silent Skip Menu setting permits :
Turning Silent Skip On or Off.
Adjusting the margin of sound level that defines silence in
-60dB, -54dB, -38dB or -20dB.
When the Auto Mark menu choice is at On, resumption of
recording after a record pause by Silent Skip adds an EDL
mark.
1. From stop, push the MENU/STORE/EDIT button.
2. Turn the Jog wheel to select Preset 1, 2 or 3.
3. Push the Jog wheel to accept the selected Preset.
4. Turn the Jog wheel so Silent Skip is displayed.
5. Push the Jog wheel while Silent Skip is displayed. The
On or Off will be flashing.
6. Turn the Jog wheel to toggle between On and Off.
7. When correct, Push the Jog wheel.
The display switches to sound level flashing.
8. Turn the Jog wheel to change the margin sound level
choices (-60dB, -54dB, -38dB or -20dB).
9. When correct, Push the Jog wheel.
Display returns to Silent Skip.
10. Turn the Jog wheel to select other Menu choices for
editing. When editing the Preset is complete, push the
MENU/STORE/EDIT button to store the changes, or
push the STOP/CANCEL button to exit Menu mode
without making any changes.
11. Display returns to stop mode.
Note:
The Auto Mark and Silent Skip features use the same
level setting.
As the level of Auto Mark is changed, that of Silent Skip
also changes automatically.
8. Auto Mark
The Auto Mark Menu item turns the automatic EDL mark
feature Off or On. See page 11 to manually add EDL marks.
If Auto Mark is on and the machine is in record - pause,
when recording is resumed a mark will be added.
If Auto Mark is on and the PMD560 is recording audio
below the sound threshold for more than three seconds,
audio that crosses the threshold will cause a mark to be
added.
The Auto Mark Menu setting permits :

3. Push the Jog wheel to accept the selected Preset.

5. Push the Jog wheel while Auto Mark is displayed. The
On or Off will be flashing.
6. Turn the Jog wheel to toggle between On and Off.
7. When correct, Push the Jog wheel.
The display switches to sound level flashing.
8. Turn the Jog wheel to change the margin of sound level
choices (-60dB, -54dB, -38dB or -20dB).
9. When correct, Push the Jog wheel.
Display returns to Auto Mark.
10. Turn the Jog wheel to select other Menu choices for
editing. When editing the Preset is complete, push the
MENU/STORE/EDIT button to store the changes, or
push the STOP/CANCEL button to exit Menu mode
without making any changes.
11. Display returns to stop mode.
Note:
The Auto Mark and Silent Skip features use the same
