5.2 Using Quick Digit
TM
Bluetooth
®
and Sylvac devices
simultaneously
When using SYLVAC BLUETOOTH
®
devices with the Marposs software, it is
necessary to install the SYLVAC Vmux program so that they can be operated via
the Serial Communication Programmer Driver.
The SYLVAC Vmux program includes virtual COM ports that can be used to
communicate with SYLVAC devices as though they were serial devices.
Due to the behaviour of the SYLVAC Vmux software, which:
1) opens all the available COM ports that it nds on the computer when it is
started;
2) it must already be running, before the Marposs software (Quick SPC
TM
, Easy
Acquisition
TM
, Drivers Library
TM
) is started, in order to make use of the virtual
COM ports used by the Serial Communication Programmer Driver
In order to use these devices correctly together with Marposs devices, it is necessary
to adopt the following measures:
program the Quick Digit
TM
Bluetooth
®
Driver selecting the “Use only MARPOSS
dongles” option (as described in paragraph 2.2);
identify all the COM ports used by the Marposs devices (for example, in the
case of Quick Digit
TM
Bluetooth
®
, the COM port assigned to the Marposs
dongle);
ensure that all these ports are in use before starting the SYLVAC Vmux
program, in order to prevent it from attempting to access them;
ensure that the SYLVAC Vmux program is started before the Marposs
software;
it is not possible to start the Marposs software before the SYLVAC Vmux
program has started and has opened all the virtual COM ports correctly for
the SYLVAC BLUETOOTH
®
devices.
For this reason, it may be useful to execute the Microsoft
®
Visual Basic
®
script
reproduced in paragraph 5.2.1.
