Throttle Pedal
Push the pedal down to increase engine speed. Spring
pressure returns the pedal to the rest position when
released. Always check that the throttle pedal returns
normally before starting the engine. Make sure there's
adequate throttle pedal freeplay.
See the throttle pedal adjustment procedures.
If the throttle cable should stick in an open position
when the operator releases the throttle pedal, the engine
will stop and power to the rear wheels will cease.
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Malfunction of throttle.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
The throttle cable could be hard to operate, making
it difficult to speed up or slow down when you need
to. This could cause an accident.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Check the operation of the throttle lever before you
start the engine. If it does not work smoothly, check
for the cause. Correct the problem before riding the
ATV. Consult your dealer if you can’t find or solve
the Problem Yourself.
Throttle Freeplay Inspection
1. Place the transmission in neutral. Set the parking brake.
2. Start the engine. Allow it to warm up thoroughly.
3. Measure the distance the throttle pedal moves before
the engine begins to pick up speed. Freeplay should be
1/16 to 1/8 inches (1.5-3 mm).
