What to do if my Masterbuilt CS40G1DW Smokers controller is not ON?
    • T
      Trevor BradshawAug 16, 2025
If the controller isn't turning on, first, ensure the power is on by pressing the power button on the controller (do not press and hold the button). Check that the controller is plugged into the power supply and the power supply is plugged into a working wall outlet. Also, inspect the wall outlet circuit breaker and reset it if it has tripped; you might need to try a different outlet. If none of these steps work, there may be a controller malfunction.

What to do if my Masterbuilt Smokers fan is not ON?
    • M
      Mark HouseAug 19, 2025
If the fan isn't running, it could be because the temperature inside the smoker has already reached the set temperature. The fan will turn off once this temperature is reached and will restart if the temperature falls below the set point, automatically adjusting to maintain the set temperature. Also, check if the bottom door is open, as the smoker has a safety feature that shuts off the fan when the doors are open. Closing the doors will allow the fan to operate normally. Ensure the top door connection is fully seated.

Why is my Masterbuilt CS40G1DW heating slowly?
    • E
      Eric DavenportAug 22, 2025
Slow heating can occur for several reasons. If you're cooking at temperatures of 275ºF and above, make sure the charcoal partition is removed. For a more efficient burn, use charcoal briquettes instead of lump charcoal. Ensure the heat deflector tent is in the upright position when cooking between 230ºF and 400ºF. Check that the charcoal basket has enough charcoal to reach the desired temperature. Finally, make sure the smoker doors are closed.

What does Err 4 mean on my Masterbuilt CS40G1DW?
    • A
      ayersjuliaAug 26, 2025
Error 4 indicates that the charcoal failed to ignite. To resolve this, ensure the fire starter was placed in the charcoal basket on the side closest to the fan, and that both smoker doors are fully closed. Also, make sure the charcoal basket isn't empty and that old ash isn't blocking the charcoal basket. Clean the charcoal basket and ash tray before restarting the smoker.
