hazardous operating situation.
Perform this procedure from the ground using the platform controls. Do not stand in the platform.
Turn the red Emergency Stop button clockwise to the on position at both the ground and
platform controls.
Turn the key switch to platform control.
Check the platform up/down function from the ground controls.
Result: The machine functions should not operate.
Turn the key switch to ground control.
Check the machine functions from the platform controls.
Result: The machine functions should not operate.
Turn the key switch to the off position.
Result: No function should operate.
Horn
The horn is activated at the platform controls and sounds at the ground as a warning to ground
personnel. An improperly functioning horn will prevent the operator from alerting ground personnel of
hazards or unsafe conditions.
Turn the key switch to platform control and turn the red Emergency Stop button clockwise to the
on position at both the ground and platform controls.
Push down the horn button at the platform controls.
Result: The horn should sound.
Drive Brake
Proper brake action is essential to safe machine operation. The drive brake function should operate
smoothly, free of hesitation, jerking and unusual noise. Hydraulically released individual wheel brakes
can appear to operate normally when not fully operational.
Perform this procedure with the machine on a firm level surface that is free of obstructions, with the
platform extension deck fully retracted and the platform in the stowed position.
Mark a test line on the ground for reference.
Turn the key switch to platform control and turn the red Emergency Stop button clockwise to the
on position at both the ground and platform controls.
Press the drive function select button.
Choose a point on the machine; i.e., contact patch of a tire, as a visual reference for use when
crossing the test line.
Bring the machine to top drive speed before reaching the test line. Release the function enable
switch or the joystick when your reference point on the machine crosses the test line.
Measure the distance between the test line and your machine reference point.
Result: The machine stops within the specified braking distance. No action required.
Result: The machine does not stop within the specified braking distance.
NOTE:
The brakes must be able to hold the machine on any slope it is able to climb.
Replace the brakes and repeat this procedure beginning with step 1.
