Overview

The Medify Air MA-112 is an air purifier designed to improve indoor air quality through a four-step filtration system. It is suitable for use in various indoor environments to remove common airborne pollutants.

Function Description

The MA-112 air purifier operates on a four-step filtration and purification system:

  1. First Step: Pre-filter: This initial filter is designed to capture larger particles such as dust, dander, and hair, preventing them from clogging subsequent filters and extending their lifespan.
  2. Second Step: True HEPA H13 Filter: This is a high-grade HEPA filter capable of removing 99.9% of particles down to 0.1 microns. This includes fine particulate matter like PM2.5 (smoke, pollen, dust mites), and other microscopic allergens.
  3. Third Step: Activated Carbon Filter: This layer is responsible for absorbing odors, harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other toxic substances, such as formaldehyde, from the air.
  4. Fourth Step: Ionizer Generator: The unit includes an ionizer that produces negative ions. These negative ions work to neutralize positively charged particles in the air, such as dust, bacteria, mold spores, pollen, animal dander, and other airborne positive particles, causing them to settle out of the air.

The device features an air quality indicator light and a digital display for PM2.5 levels, allowing users to monitor the current air quality condition. It offers multiple operating modes including various fan speeds, an auto mode that adjusts fan speed based on air quality, and a sleep mode for quiet operation. A timer function allows for scheduled operation.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Voltage: 220-240V AC 50Hz. (It is crucial to note that this unit is NOT designed for 110V use and plugging it into a 110V outlet will cause damage.)
  • Rated Power: 120W
  • Noise Level: < 69 dB(A)
  • Unit Dimensions: 28.311 inches (H) x 15.711 inches (W) x 15.411 inches (D)
  • Unit Weight: 32.8 lbs.

Usage Features

The MA-112 air purifier is designed for user-friendly operation with several control features:

  • Control Panel: Located on the top of the unit, the control panel includes buttons for ON/OFF, Speed, Auto, Timer, Sleep, and Ionizer, along with an air quality indicator light and a digital display for PM2.5.
  • Power Button (ON/OFF): Turns the unit on and off. When turned on, the unit starts at speed 1.
  • Fan Speed Settings: Users can select from four fan speeds (1, 2, 3, 4). In "AUTO" mode, the unit automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the detected air quality.
  • Sleep Mode: Activates a quiet operation mode where all indicator lights (except the sleep indicator, which eventually turns off) are dimmed, and the fan speed is set to the lowest, reducing noise. Any button press exits sleep mode.
  • Timer Function: Allows users to set the operating time for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours, or to disable the timer.
  • Ionizer Mode: Activates the ionizer for enhanced air purification. The ionizer button also serves as the filter replacement reset button.
  • Child-Lock Button: A safety feature that disables all function keys (except the child lock itself) to prevent accidental changes. It is activated by holding the AUTO button for 3-5 seconds and deactivated by holding it for 30-45 seconds.
  • Air Quality Indicator Light: Provides a visual representation of the current air quality: Blue (Excellent), Green (Average), and Red (Poor).
  • Placement: For optimal performance and ventilation, the unit should be placed at least 20 inches (50 cm) away from walls or furniture, ensuring that air intake and outlet are not obstructed.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the MA-112 to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Filter Replacement: The unit features a filter replacement indicator light that reminds users when it's time to change the filters.
    • Procedure: To replace filters, first turn off and unplug the unit. Press down on the side handles to remove the side covers, then lift them out from the bottom grooves. Remove all existing filters and their packaging. Install new filter sets, ensuring all packaging is removed. Reinstall the side covers by aligning and inserting them into the slots until they snap into place.
    • Resetting the Indicator: After replacing filters, plug in and turn on the unit. Press and hold the Ionizer button for 3 seconds to reset the filter replacement indicator light.
    • Filter Integrity: Filters come as a single set and should not be disassembled for maximum efficiency.
  • Cleaning the Air Purifier:
    • General Cleaning: The exterior of the air purifier should be cleaned regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dust accumulation.
    • Important Safety Note: Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Do not immerse the unit in water or any other liquid. Avoid using abrasive, corrosive, or flammable cleaning products. The composite filters are not washable.
  • Cleaning the Air Quality Sensor:
    • Frequency: The air quality sensor should be cleaned every two months, or more frequently if the unit operates in a dusty environment, to ensure accurate readings.
    • Procedure: Disassemble the cover of the air quality sensor. Use a soft brush or cloth to clean the intake and outlet of the sensor. A dry swab, hair dryer (to blow out the sensor area), or vacuum cleaner can also be used. Reinstall the sensor cover after cleaning.
    • Attention: Condensation can affect sensor accuracy, leading to poor air quality readings even in well-ventilated rooms. Ensure the sensor is clean and dry for proper function.
