Sight Tube Inspection
1 The engine is equipped with fuel system sight tubes which provide a visual indication of a problem in the fuel
delivery system. There is one coming from the mechanical fuel pump and one coming from the vapor seperator
tank. Both of the tubes are joined together and drain into the intake manifold. If there is fuel visible in the sight tube,
have your engine repaired by an Authorized MerCruiser Dealer immediately.

Water Separating Fuel Filter
!
WARNING
Be careful when changing water separating fuel filter. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explo-
sive under certain conditions. Be sure ignition key is OFF. Do not smoke or allow spark or open flame in
area when changing fuel filter. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately. Make sure no fuel leaks exist before
closing engine hatch.
2 Remove water separating fuel filter (by turning counterclockwise) and sealing ring from mounting bracket and
discard.
Coat sealing rings on new filter with motor oil. Thread filter clockwise onto bracket and tighten securely by hand.
Do not use a filter wrench.
Start and run engine. Check filter connection for gasoline leaks. If leaks exist, recheck filter installation. If leaks
continue, stop engine immediately and contact your Authorized MerCruiser Dealer.
