Warning Horn
Function Sound Description
Cooling system problem Continuous Engine Guardian System is
activated. Power limit will
vary with level of overheat.
Shift outboard into neutral
and check for a steady
stream of water coming out
of the water pump indicator
hole. If no water is coming
out of the water pump
indicator hole, or flow is
intermittent, stop engine and
check water intake holes for
obstruction.
Oil pressure low Continuous Engine Guardian System is
activated. Power limit will
vary depending on available
oil pressure. Stop engine
and check oil dipstick. Add
oil if necessary. Refer to Fuel
and Oil - Checking and
Adding Engine Oil.
Engine overspeed Continuous The warning horn is
activated any time the
engine speed exceeds the
maximum allowable RPM.
The system will limit the
engine speed to within the
allowable range. Engine
overspeed indicates a
condition that should be
corrected. Overspeed could
be caused by incorrect
propeller pitch, engine
height, trim angle, tilt angle
(shallow water operation)
etc.
