High voltages and large currents are present at
t
he High Voltage Capacitor. It is very dangerous
to work near this part when the oven is on.
NEVER make any voltage measurements at the
High Voltage circuits, including the magnetron
lament.
16.3 High Voltage Capacitor Test
16.3.1 Disconnect and isolate the oven from the
electricity supply.
16.3.2 Allow the oven to cool down.
16.3.3 Remove the oven casing.
16.3.4 Ensure that the High Voltage Capacitor is
discharged before commencing work.
16.3.5 Remove all connections from the High Voltage
Capacitor.
16.3.6 Using a D.M.M., check for continuity between
the terminals. Results should be as follows:
1 Between Terminals, pass if approx. 10 MΩ
2 Between Terminals and case, pass if open circuit.
16.3.7
Using a Megger, test the insulation resistance
between the Terminals and case, pass if reading is over
100 MΩ.
16.4 High Voltage Magnetron Test
16.4.1 Disconnect and isolate the oven from the
electricity supply.
16.4.2 Allow the oven to cool down.
16.4.3 Remove the oven casing.
16.4.4 Ensure that the High Voltage Capacitor is
discharged before commencing work.
16.4.5 Remove all connections from the High Voltage
Magnetron.
16.4.6 Using a Megger check for continuity. Results
should be as follows:
1 Filament terminals, pass if 1 Ω or less.
2 Between each  lament terminal and the metal
out
er case should read open.
