6. Set selector switch to surface plan-
ing.
7. Start motor.
8. Feed work piece straight across the
infeed table holding your fingers
close together, guiding the work
piece with the palm of your hands.
Exert downward pressure on the
work piece only in the infeed table
area.
9. Switch machine off if no further cut-
ting is to be done immediately after-
wards.
6.3 Thickness Planer Mode
3
Note:
Thickness planing reduces the
thickness of a work piece with one
already planed surface.
− The work piece is fed through the
thicknesser.
− The surface already planed flat rests
on the thicknesser bed.
− The work piece is cut on the upper
side.
− The feed direction for the work piece
is exactly opposite than for surface
planing.

Preparation
A
Danger!
Always unplug before servicing!
1. Turn both left and right lock lever
(61) outwards.
2. Loosen lock lever (62) and remove
jointer fence (63).
3. Remove outfeed table (60).
4. Raise cutterblock guard extrusion
(64):
− fully, and
− pull all the way outwards.
5. Swing chip chute (68) up over the
cutterblock. If a dust collector is to
be connected, place the dust collec-
tion connector (65) on the chip chute
(68).
6. Secure chip chute (68) with the wing
nut (67).
3
Note:
For thickness planing the chip
chute (68) serves as cutterblock cover.
The chip chute must activate the limit
switch, otherwise the machine cannot be
started.
7. Raise cutterblock guard extrusion
(66):
− slide it all the way in,
− lower it carefully to provide addi-
tional hold for chip chute and dust
collector connector.
8. If a dust collector is to be used, con-
nect the dust collector connector's
suction port (65) to a suitable dust
collector.
A
Danger!
Some types of wood dust (e.g. oack,
ash) may cause cancer when inhaled:
When working indoors work only with
a suitable dust collector connected to
the machine:
− Fitting the outer diameter of the
suction port (100 mm);
− air volume ≥ 550 m
3
/h;
− vacuum at suction port of
machine ≥ 740 Pa;
− air speed at suction port of
machine ≥ 20 m/s.
A
Caution!
Operation without a dust collector is
only possible:
− Outdoors;
− if only minimal chips are gener-
ated (with narrow stock and little
chip removal);
− with dust respirator.
