4-11. Duty Cycle And Overheating For TIG (GTAW)
Duty Cycle is percentage of 10
minutes that unit can weld at rated
load without overheating.
If unit overheats, output stops. Wait
10 minutes for unit to cool. Reduce
amperage or duty cycle before
starting to weld again.
NOTICE Exceeding duty cycle
can damage unit and void warranty.

The static (output) characteristics of the welding power source can be described as flat during the GMAW process and drooping during the
SMAW and GTAW processes. Static characteristics are also affected by control settings (including software), electrode, shielding gas, weld-
ment material, and other factors. Contact the factory for specific information on the static characteristics of the welding power source.
