5.1 Before Processing
Thisstepistoremovetheultrasoundgelorothervisibledirt.
1. Wearapairofglovestopreventinfectionthroughthewholecleaning,disinfection
process.
2. Disconnecttheprobefromthesystem.Ifthesheathisused,takeoffthesheathand
disposeitasdirectedbythehospital.
3. Wipeawaytheultrasoundgelorothervisibledirtonthesurfaceoftheprobebyusing
adamppieceofdisposablelint-freesoftclothortissue.
5.2 Cleaning
OnlythefollowingcleanersarerecommendedbyMindraytocleantheTEEtransducers.
Forthebiologicaleffectivenessandthecorrectuseofthecleaners,seetheinformationof
thecleaner’smanufacturer

5.2.2 Cleaning Procedure for TEE Probe
1. Selectanappropriatecleanerincludecleaningwipesandsprays,milddetergents,
enzymaticcleanersandspeciallydesignedenzymaticsponges.
2. Followthemanufacturer’sinstructionstoprepareandusethecleaner.Selectan
appropriatemethod:
– Soaking:Soaktheprobeinthecleanersolutionforatleast1minuteorfollowthe
manufacturer'sinstructions.Wipeandwashtheprobesurfacegentlybyusinga
pieceoflint-freesoftclothorsoftspongeuntilnodirtisvisible.Whennecessary,
washthelocatinggrooveandotheritemsbyusingdisposablecottonswabs.
Avoidusingabrushtowashthelensbecauseitmaydamagetheprobe.
