Changing
the
Highlight
and
Shadow
Values
The Flash
Meter
IV
is
programmed
to increase
the
exposure
by
2.3
stops when
the
high
light
key
is
pressed,
and
to decrease
the
exposure
by 2.7
stops
when
the shadow
key
is
pressed.
These
values
pro-
duce
correct
exposure for
highlights
and
shadows
when
using
most
color-slide
(color-reversal)
f ilms.
However,
when
using
some
films,
particufarly
bfack-
and-white
negative
f
ilms,
you
may
want
to
change
the
highlight
and shadow
vafues
to
provide
more
or
less
exposu
re.
After
you
have
changed
either
the
highlight
or
shadow
vaf ue,
the
new
value
will
be used
f
or
all
further
caf
cu
lations
until
you
reset
the
original
values
or remove
the battery.
Changing
the Highlight
Value
To
increase
the highlight
value:
Hold
down
the
"H"
key
and move
the
up/down
control
upward.
To
decrease
the highlight
value:
Hold
down
the
"H"
key
and move
the
up/down
control
downward.
Each
time
the up/down
control
is
moved,
the
digital
number
will
change
by
0.1
of
a
stop.
The
number
changes
continuously
if
you
keep
pressing
the up/down
control.
The
highlight
pointer
moves
to
the
right
as
the
value
is increased
and to
the left
as
it
is
decreased.
