settings

other
camera
functions.

P:
PROGRAM
MODE
In
P
mode
the
camera
automatically
sets
the
ap¬
erture
and
shutter
speed,
based
on
light
read¬
ings
from
the
metering
system,
and
on
the
type
of
the
lens
in
use
(focal
length
and
minimum
ap¬
erture).
The
program
lines
followed
for
lenses
of
various
focal
lengths
are
shown
at
right
Each
program
is
designed
to
select
a
shutter
speed
that
is
fast
enough
to
minimize
blur
caused
by
camera
shake.
Operating
the
camera
in
P
mode
leaves
you
free
to
concentrate
on
composition
and
other
picture
elements.
When
the
shutter-release
button
is
pressed
partway
down,
the
camera
measures
the
ambient
light,
automatically
determines
cor¬
rect
exposure,
and
displays
its
program
setting
in
the
data
panel.
Shutter
speed
and
aperture
settings
are
made
steplessly,
and
displayed
to
the
nearest
half-stop
setting.
