Overview

The IP Phone 480/480G is a robust communication device designed for efficient call handling and enhanced user experience within a business environment. It integrates a range of telephony functions with customizable settings and visual indicators to streamline daily operations.

Function Description:

The phone serves as a primary communication tool, enabling users to place, answer, and manage calls effectively. It supports various call types, including speakerphone, headset, directory-based calls, conference calls, and calls from history. Incoming calls can be answered directly, sent to voicemail, or diverted. The device also facilitates call interaction features such as muting, holding, transferring, merging calls into a conference, parking calls, and unparking calls.

Voicemail functionality is comprehensive, allowing users to check visual voicemail, log into the main voicemail menu, and log in from another extension. This ensures that important messages are accessible and manageable.

Extension assignment is a key feature, enabling users to assign their extension to available or anonymous phones, unassign extensions, and change extension assignments through both the phone interface and the voicemail system. This flexibility supports dynamic work environments and hot-desking scenarios.

The phone is highly customizable, allowing users to personalize their experience. This includes selecting ringtones, changing availability states (and associated call forwarding), setting automatic off-hook behavior, adjusting the time zone, and logging in or out of workgroups with agent state management.

Troubleshooting features are built-in, providing users with the ability to view phone information and reboot the phone directly from the keypad, which aids in quick problem resolution.

Important Technical Specifications:

The phone features a display area that provides visual feedback and context-sensitive soft keys. It includes eight programmable call appearance buttons with tri-color LED indicators, which show active, incoming, and on-hold calls. These buttons can also be configured as call keys, monitored extensions, or speed-dial keys. An indicator LED flashes to alert users to incoming calls and unheard voice messages.

Audio control keys manage handset, headset, speaker, and ringer volume. Mute, Speaker, and Headset buttons illuminate when their functions are active. The device includes a dial pad, a navigation key pad with a selector button for interface navigation, and a microphone. Headsets can be connected via a dedicated jack on the back of the phone.
