2. First light
Mount your laser to an optical table using the screws provided. Your
laserhasbeencarefullytunedtothespecificationsgiveninyourlaser
test report. Pleasemake sureasyou continuewiththis manual,thatthe
diodeinjectioncurrent,temperatureandpiezooffset(FREQUENCY)match
those of the test report.
Itisassumedthat aMOGLabs DLCcontroller hasbeen providedwith your
laser.Ifathirdpartycontrollerisused,pleasesetacurrentlimitaccording
to the maximum safe operating current stipulated in your test report.
Forlongerwavelengthlasers, anIRupconversioncardorvideocamera
withoutIRfiltercanbeveryhelpful. Commonlow-costsecuritycameras,
computerUSB cameras,andhomemovieorstillcamerasarealsogood
options,althoughtheyoftenhaveIRfilterswhichmayneedtoberemoved.
2.1 Standby/Run
PleasefirstcheckthattheMOGLabsDLC hasbeensettothecorrectmains
supplyvoltagebyinspectingthe redvoltageselectorabovetherearpanel
IEC power inlet. Thenturn themainpower switchon. Checkthatthe
DLCinternalDIPswitchesmatch the lasertest reportspecification. Make
surethatthelaserdiodecurrentsupply(CURRENT knob)isturnedfully
anti-clockwise,andthattheOFF/MOD,SLOWandFAST lockswitchesare
off (up), and then turn the keyswitch from STANDBY to RUN. The LED
status indicatorshouldbe yellowindicatingthat thethermistorandTEC
elements are connected.
2.2 Current
Turnthe laserdiode CURRENTadjust tozero (fullyanti-clockwise). Note
that for normal daily operation, it is not recommended to turn thecurrent
tozero when turningoff the laserasthe soft-startfunction of theDLC
