Safety Information
Read this information before using a wearable communicator (PIC).
First introduced in 2000, the Personal Interactive Communicator (PIC) is one
of the most exciting and innovative electronic products ev er developed. With it,
you can stay in contact w ith your family, your office, information services, and
others. For the safe and eff icient operation of your communic ator (PIC),
observe these gu idelines:
Your communicator (P IC) is a radio transmitter and receiver. When it is O N, it
rece ives an d also sen ds out radio frequency (RF) energy.
The c ommunica tor (PIC) transmitter o per ates in the frequency range of 896
MHz to 902 MHz, and the receiver ope rates in the range of 929 MHz to 942
MHz. It u tilizes commonly used fre que ncy m odu lation (FM) t echn ique s. The
unit transmitsat a power level of 0.15W for shor t perio ds of time (from 0.016 to
0.160 seconds). Transmissions occur infrequen tly and usually follow within a
few seconds of a page that has been received or when the unitis first turned o n.
In 1991, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and in
1992, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), updated the 1982
ANSI Standard for safety levels with respect to human exposure to RF energy.
