Hardware Prefetcher
The processor has a hardware prefetcher that automatically analyzes its re
-
quirements and prefetches data and instructions from the memory into the
Level 2 cache that are likely to be required in the near future. This reduces
the latency associated with memory reads. When enabled, the processor’s
hardware prefetcher will be enabled and allowed to automatically prefetch
data and code for the processor. When disabled, the processors hardware
prefetcher will be disabled.
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch
The processor has a hardware adjacent cache line prefetch mechanism that
automatically fetches an extra 64-byte cache line whenever the processor
requests for a 64-byte cache line. This reduces cache latency by making
the next cache line immediately available if the processor requires it as well.
When enabled, the processor will retrieve the currently requested cache line,
as well as the subsequent cache line. When disabled, the processor will only
retrieve the currently requested cache line.
Intel Virtualization Technology
Virtualization enhanced by Intel Virtualization Technology will allow a platform
to run multiple operating systems and applications in independent partitions.
With virtualization, one computer system can function as multiple “virtual” sys
-
tems.
Power Technology
This setting species the CPU power technology.
EIST
EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) allows the system to dynami
-
cally adjust processor voltage and core frequency, which can result in de-
creased average power consumption and decreased average heat produc-
tion.
Turbo Mode
Intel Turbo Memory is a new Intel platform technology that uses non-volatile
memory (Flash memory) to increase system responsiveness, make multi-
tasking faster, and extend battery life. This technology is poised to eliminate
many of the bottlenecks associated with HDD latency. By enabling the major
-
ity of application workload to be written and read from a system cache instead
of the HDD, Turbo Memory will offer users signicantly increased performance
-- particularly in application load and run time, the speed in which systems re-
sume operation after hibernation or boot, and in system-level power usage.
