Why MTD 18A-212A783 fails to start?
    • A
      amandagrayJul 31, 2025
Your MTD Lawn Mower might not be starting due to several reasons: the cord may be disconnected from the motor/blade control (reconnect it, keeping the cord restraint close), the motor/blade control could be defective (replace it), the extension cord might not be properly connected to the mower (connect it), the extension cord may not be connected to a power source (connect to a 110-120 volt, 60 hertz A.C. receptacle), or the overload protection switch/circuit breaker might have tripped (reset it following the manual's instructions).

How to make my MTD Lawn Mower easier to push?
    • B
      Bryan HillAug 6, 2025
If your MTD lawn mower is hard to push, it may be due to high grass or a cutting height that is too low, or the rear of the mower housing and blade dragging in heavy grass. Try raising the cutting height.

What to do if the circuit breaker on my MTD 18A-212A783 Lawn Mower keeps tripping?
    • T
      Timothy AndrewsAug 11, 2025
If the circuit breaker on your MTD lawn mower is tripping, it could be due to too much workload. Try raising the cutting height, resetting the circuit breaker, taking a smaller width of cut, and walking more slowly. Another cause may be a blown fuse or overloaded outlet. Connect to an outlet that is fused for 15 amperes, then reset the circuit breaker and restart the mower.

Why is my MTD Lawn Mower vibrating at higher speed?
    • J
      Joseph CarrAug 17, 2025
Excessive vibration in your MTD lawn mower could stem from a bent motor shaft (stop the motor, disconnect the power source and inspect for damage and have it repaired by an authorized service dealer), an unbalanced cutting blade (balance the blade by grinding each cutting edge equally), or a loose blade (tighten the blade bolt to 309 in. lbs.).

Why does the cord on my MTD 18A-212A783 disconnect frequently?
    • A
      Anthony SullivanAug 23, 2025
Frequent cord disconnection on your MTD lawn mower can be caused by an extension cord not properly attached to the cord restraint (reconnect it to the cord restraint on the guide rod) or an old, worn, or loose extension cord (replace the extension cord).
