Replacing the DriveBelt
IMPORTANT:Toaid inreassembly,notetheorientation
ofthedrivebeltonthetwoidlerpulleysandtheengine
flywheelpulleypriortoperformingthefollowingsteps.
Referto Figure10.
Theedgerdrivebeltissubjecttowear andshouldbe
replacedif any signsof cracking,shreddingor rotting
arepresent.Toreplacethe belt,proceedasfollows:
1. Workingin frontof the edger,loosentheflange
locknutontopofframe,allowingtheidlerpulley
assemblytopivotslightlyoutfromthe frame.See
Figure10.
2. Withyourotherhand,carefullyreachunderthe
rearoftheunitand removethe beltfromaroundthe
engineflywheelpulley.
3. Removethe spindlesheavesbeltguardby removing
thetwoself-tappingscrewswhichsecureittothe
bladeplateassembly.SeeFigure10.
4. Carefullyremovethe belt fromoff ofthe pulleys,
againmakingsureto notetheorientationofthebelt.
Discardthebelt.
Installthereplacementbelt(PartNo.754-04032B)inthe
sameconfigurationthattheoriginalbeltwasroutedas
follows:
5. Workingfromthefrontof theedger,placethebeltonto
thespindlesheaves,routeit backonto thetwo idler
pulleys,andthenplaceitontotheengineflywheel
pulley.
IMPORTANT:Makecertainthatthe"V"side of the belt
isseatedintothetop pulleyandtheflatsideof thebeltis
seatedintothebottompulley.
6. Reinstallthe spindlesheavesbelt guardwiththe self
tappingscrewsremovedearlier.
7. Makecertainthatthedrivebeltison the engine
flywheelpulleyandidlerpulleys,andretightenthe
flangelocknuton the topof theframe.
IMPORTANT:Makecertainthatthedrivebeltisseated
correctlyandthatitis ridingsmoothlyon the spindle
sheavesandisnotpinchedbetweenthem.Repeatthe
firstthreestepsifthebeltispinched.

Off-Season Storage
Observethefollowingwhenpreparingtheedgerfor
long-termstorage:
1. Cleanandlubricateunit thoroughlyas instructedon
page11ofthismanual.
2. Refertothe EngineManualpackedseparately
withtheedgerforenginemanufacturers'sstorage
instructions.
3. Coattheedgerbladewithchassisgreasetoprevent
rustingandcorrosion.
4. Storetheedgerin a dry,cleanarea. Do notstorenext
toanycorrosivematerials,suchaslawnfertilizer.
5. Coattheedger,especiallyany springsandbearings
witha lightoil or siliconespray.
IMPORTANT:Whenstoringanytypeof powerequipment
inanpoorlyventilatedor metalstorageshed,care should
betakentorustprooftheequipment.
