Wheels
Lubricatethewheelsandbearingsat leastoncea
seasonwitha lightoil. Also if thewheelsareremovedfor
anyreason,lubricatethesurfaceof the axle boltandthe
innersurfaceofthe wheelwithlightoil.
Pivot Points
Lubricatethepivotpointsonthebladecontrolbail,blade
depthcontrollever,andifapplicable,thebladeadjust-
mentlever,andcurb heightadjustmentleverwithlightoil
atleastoncea season.
Bearing Block
Lubricatethebearingblockoncea season,orasneeded
bysimplyapplyingoilateachend ofthecoverplate.

1. Workingin frontof the edger,loosentheflangelock
nuton topofframe,allowingthe idlerpulleyassembly
topivotslightlyoutfromtheframe.SeeFigure10.

2. Withyourotherhand,carefullyreachundertherearof
theunitandremovethebeltfromaroundtheengine
flywheelpulley.
3. Removethespindlesheavesbeltguardby removing
thetwoself-tappingscrewswhichsecureittothe
bladeplateassembly.
4. Usetwowrenches(onewrenchtopreventthehex
boltheadfromspinningandtheotherto removethe
flangenut)toremovetheedgerblade.

5. Removeanddiscardtheedgerbladebutretainthe
flangenut.
6. Installthe replacementedgerbladeandthe flangenut
removedearlier.
IMPORTANT:Usea torquewrenchtotightentheflange
nuttobetween37foot-lbs,and50foot-lbs.
7. Reinstallthespindlebeltguardwiththeselftapping
screwsremovedearlier.
8. Carefullyplacethedrivebeltbackontotheengine
flywheelpulley,and retightentheflangelocknut on
thetopof the frame.
IMPORTANT:Makecertainthatthedrivebeltis
seatedcorrectlyonthebladespindleandthat itis riding
smoothlyonthespindlesheavesand isnotpinched
betweenthem.Repeatthefirstthreestepsifthe beltis
pinched.
