edger isobservedfrom the operatingposition.
Securing the Handles
Removeanddiscardanypackagingcardboardthatmay
bepresentbetweentheupperhandleandthe lower
handle.
1. Depressthe bladecontrolat thetopoftheupper
handleandpivottheupperhandleupwarduntil it
snapsintoplace,Figure3-1.
2. Tightenthestarknobs,whicharelocatedon boththe
leftand rightsidesofthehandle.
Attaching the Starter Rope
Locatetheropeguidefoundonthe rightsideof the upper
handle.Loosen,but do NOTremove,the wing knobwhich
securesthe ropeguideto the upperhandle,Figure3-2.
1. Standbehindthe unitand holdthe bladecontrol
againsttheupperhandle.
2. Gentlypullthe starterropeoutof theengine.The
starterropewillnot pullout of the engineunlessthe
bladecontrolis depressedagainstthe upperhandle.

3. Slipthe starterropethroughthetopof theropeguide.
4. Tightenthewing knobwhichsecuresthe ropeguideto
theupperhandle.
