USEDELSEWHEREINTHEUNITEDSTATES.
Californiaandelsewherein the UnitedStatesEmissionControlDefectsWarrantyCoverage
TheCaliforniaAir ResourcesBoard(CARB),U.S. EPAandMTDarepleasedto explaintheemissionscontrolsystemwarrantyonyourmodelyear
2006andlatersmalloff-roadengine.In California,new smalloff-roadenginesmustbe designed,builtand equippedtomeettheStatesanti-smog
standards.ElsewhereintheUnitedStates,newnon-road,spark-ignitionenginescertifiedfor model2005and later,mustmeetsimilarstandardsset
forthbytheU.S. EPA.MTDmustwarrantythe emissioncontrolsystemonyourenginefortheperiodoftimelistedbelow,providedtherehasbeen
noabuse,neglector impropermaintenanceofyoursmalloff-roadengine.
Youremissioncontrolsystemmayincludepartssuchas the carburetor,fuel-injectionsystem,the ignitionsystem,andcatalyticconverter,fueltanks,
fuellines,fuelcaps,valves,canisters,filters,vaporhoses,clamps,connectors,andotherassociatedemission-relatedcomponents.
Wherea warrantableconditionexists,MTDwillrepairyoursmalloff-roadengineat nocosttoyourincludingdiagnosis,partsand labor.
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
Thisemissionscontrolsystemiswarrantedfor twoyears.If anyemission-relatedpart onyourengineis defective,the part will berepairedor
replacedby MTD.
OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Asthesmalloff-roadengineowner,youare responsibleforthe performanceof the requiredmaintenancelistedinyour Owner'sManual.MTD
recommendsthatyou retainall yourreceiptscoveringmaintenanceson yoursmalloff-roadengine,but MTDcan not denywarrantysolelyfor the
lackofreceiptsor foryourfailureto ensurethe performanceto allscheduledmaintenance.
Asthesmalloff-roadengineowner,youshouldhoweverbeawarethat MTDmaydenyyourwarrantycoverageifyoursmalloff-roadengineorpart
hasfaileddue toabuse,neglect,impropermaintenanceor unapprovedmodifications.
Youare responsiblefor presentingyour smalloff-roadengineto an AuthorizedMTDServiceDealeras soonas a problemexists.Thewarranted
repairsshouldbe completedina reasonableamountof time,notto exceed30 days.

DEFECTS WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS FOR 1995 AND LATER SMALL OFF-ROAD ENGINES:
Thissectionappliesto 1995andlatersmalloff-roadengines.The warrantyperiodbeginsonthe datethe engineor equipmentis deliveredto an
ultimatepurchaser.
(a) GeneralEmissionsWarrantyCoverage
MTDmustwarranttotheultimatepurchaserandeachsubsequentpurchaserthatthe engineis:
(1)Designed,built,andequippedsoas to conformwithallapplicableregulationsadoptedbytheAirResourcesBoardpursuantto itsauthorityin
Chapters1and2,Part5, Division26of the HealthandSafetyCode;and
(2) Freefromdefectsin materialsandworkmanshipthatcausethefailureof a warrantedparttobeidenticalin all materialrespectstothepartas
describedin theenginemanufacturer'sapplicationfor certificationfora periodoftwoyears.
(b)Thewarrantyonemissions-relatedpartswill be interpretedas follows:
(1)Anywarrantedpart thatis not scheduledforreplacementas requiredmaintenanceinthe writteninstructionsrequiredby Subsection(c)
mustbewarrantedfor the warrantyperioddefinedinSubsection(a)(2). Ifany suchpartfailsduringthe periodof warrantycoverage,it mustbe
repairedor replacedbyMTDaccordingto Subsection(4)below.Anysuchpart repairedor replacedunderthewarrantymustbewarrantedfor
theremainingwarrantyperiod.
(2)Anywarrantedpartthat isscheduledonlyfor regularinspectioninthewritteninstructionsrequiredby Subsection(c) must bewarrantedfor
thewarrantyperioddefinedin Subsection(a)(2).A statementinsuchwritteninstructionstotheeffectof"repairor replaceas necessary"will
notreducethe periodof warrantycoverage.Anysuchpart repairedor replacedunderwarrantymustbe warrantedforthe remainingwarranty
period.
(3) Anywarrantedpartthat whichis scheduledfor replacementas requiredmaintenancein thewritteninstructionsrequiredbySubsection(c)
mustbewarrantedfor the periodd timepriorto the first scheduledreplacementpointforthat part.Ifthe part failspriorto thefirst scheduled
replacement,thepartmustbe repairedor replacedbyMTDaccordingtoSubsection(4) below.Anysuchpart repairedor replacedunder
warrantymustbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheperiodpriortothefirstscheduledreplacementpointfor the part.
