9. EXHAUST
9.1. The muffler and muffler cover are secured to the
cylinder head by nuts on studs. They may be
removed using a 10mm wrench. See Figure 9.1.
NOTE: The studs that hold the carburetor and
the studs that hold the muffler are interchange-
able.
9.2. The muffler and cover may be slipped off of the
studs as a unit, or separately. See Figure 9.2.

9.3. The muffler gasket extends well beyond the port,
to act as a heat shield and cooling air guide
between the muffler and the cylinder.
See Figure 9.3.
NOTE: The exhaust gasket is a one time use
only gasket. Replace every time the muffler is
removed.
